Gambling more addictive than alcohol?

According to a couple of new recent studies in Canada, gamblers tend to have more intense cravings for gambling than alcoholics have for alcohol. The difference between compulsive gamblers and alcoholics is that gamblers play because it makes them feel euphoric, as opposed to alcoholics who drink to escape bad feelings. The research also found that gamblers tend to be more impulsive than alcoholics.

And who is largely to blame for all this? In Canada, the government is. All casinos in the country are owned and run by the government. The government needs to take a good hard look in order to see what these money making casinos are doing to the population.

Casinos in Nevada refusing to pay

In 2000, Richard Chen won over $40 000 in blackjack by counting cards. Monte Carlo Casino refused to pay him his winnings because they believed he cheated. Mr. Chen went to court. The Nevada Supreme Court ruled that the casino had to pay him what was owed to him due to the fact that counting cards is not considered cheating, it is seen as a talent a player has. Another case occurred at the MGM Grand, where a player tried to collect $8 600 that he won at blackjack. The casino refused to pay him.

Unfortunately, this does not occur only in big casinos. A woman who had checked into the Tuscany Hotel played a video poker machine in the hotel bar. As she started to win, a guard came up to her and told her to leave. After a few minutes, security handcuffed her and threw her out of the hotel without her winnings and a refund for the room.

Many gamblers have sued casinos for not receiving their winnings, and for being harassed physically by casino security. One of the major reasons that these cases arise is that the Nevada Gaming Control Board does nothing about it. They usually will pay the person who is suing their winnings and that's it. They do not punish the casinos for all this wrongdoing because of their secret deals done with the casino bosses.

Things have to definitely change in Nevada's casinos. If the general public starts finding out how casinos abuse patrons when they win, it could lead eventually to a decrease of tourists in the gambling state. However, playing online is the safest alternative. Online casinos have come a long way!

Advertising casinos online may soon be a thing of the past?

In Australia it is illegal to advertise any gambling sites or casinos online. Many of the search engines, such as Google, try and prevent advertising online but do not insist on enforcing the law. Google Australia will have to face charges for violating the advertising laws. Web Wombat, another Australian search engine, is also facing similar charges for having gambling sites come up in their results.

Golden Palace buys Jesus Pierogi

Online Casino GoldenPalace.com won an Ebay auction for a pierogi that looks like Jesus Christ. The Jesus Periogi was sold for $1,775!

Donna Lee was cooking Polish dumplings for her Easter supper, and this is when the Jesus face appeared. She lives in Point Place Ohio, a suburb close to Lake Erie.

The internet casino has bought so many weird items in the last few months, that it is actually creating a traveling museum to host its collection.

Inside look on CryptoLogic Inc.

CryptoLogic Inc. is a Toronto-based company that provides casino software and support services to some of the biggest gambling sites on the Internet today. The firm already has more than $80-million in sales for this year, and the company recently grew another 30%. The last 5 years, gambling online has become a $12 billion a year market. And CryptoLogic sales are up about 85% in that exact same period.

Cryptologic has thousands of investors in a new industry that is maturing fast but still with many problems. The biggest issue is the image problem, online casinos are still considered illegal in many areas in the United States and all over the world. The company itself admits that maybe one day they will face civil or criminal actions unless things change in the near future.

Most top Banks in the US won't even process transactions for online casinos. It is getting harder and harder for someone to use a credit card to gamble online. And a lot of US lawmakers in the last 10 years have been trying to eliminate the industry.

As a result almost all customers of the Canadian Company are located on two small islands, Alderney and the Netherlands Antilles. Most of these companies do not do this to avoid taxes. They run offices in the US and Canada, with 100's of employees. They run to the Caribbean Sea because our governments cannot figure how to regulate online casino gambling and profit from it.

Bet on the Presidential race

The elections for the president are still 3 years away, but famous sportsbook 52bet.com has already started accepting bets, and according to the company`s Officer Mr. Robert Spencer Anderson, the wagering activity is huge on both the candidate and the projected political parties.

At the last Presidential race in 2004, the website had experienced a day by day increase on bets placed on the 2 candidates, that had started almost 6 months before the November 2nd election. But now the interest has begun over three years from the November 2nd 2008 fight.

And the numbers for each candidate until now are:
Bill Frist 30-1
Colin Powell 35-1
Barack Obama 40-1
Bill O'Reilly 750-1
Condoleezza Rice 18-1
Hillary Clinton 4-1
John Kerry 50-1
Mitt Romney 40-1
Michael Moore 5,000-1
Rudy Giuliani 10-1
Al Gore 75-1
Bill Clinton 250-1
Bob Kerrey 30-1
Dick Cheney 100-1
Donald Trump 2,500-1

So it seems that we an see two women candidates for the very 1st time, Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice.
